Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, like most in the NFL, will always say during a post-NFL Draft press conference that they stuck to the board and took the best player available regardless of position. That is usually not true as teams often take the player who they think is the best fit for one of their biggest areas of need.
If the Vikings are truly going to take the best player available this year, the chances are it won’t be at a position of need. Some of these players could help out in the secondary and some play positions that Minnesota is more than set at.
