The NFL Draft is just two days away, and there are plenty of Minnesota Vikings rumors floating around. The Vikings have the No. 23 overall draft pick, and have been linked to a few players lately at that spot. The Vikings are expected to target a WR early, but that's not guaranteed. Let's get you caught up to speed with all the latest draft rumors, news and speculation surrounding the Vikings.
Will Vikings Take A WR In First Round?
The Vikings have been linked to a wide receiver throughout the pre-draft process, as the team needs WR help. However, the Vikings aren't locked into taking a WR in round one.
"I’m sure I’ll get a receiver question here, but we are not honed in on a receiver in the first round," GM Rick Spielman said Tuesday. "We'll look at the best potential player, regardless of position."
However, it's likely Spielman is just trying to avoid tipping his hand. The last thing he wants to do is broadcast his team's intentions. Matt Miller of Bleacher Report says the Vikings prefer TCU WR Josh Doctson this year, and there's a good chance he's on the board for the team.
Could Vikings Trade Down?
The Vikings might not actually make a move, but they have heard from two teams about trading out of the No. 23 spot.
"It will be interesting at the 23rd pick because I’ve already had two calls that I can verify today about teams potentially coming up our way,” Spielman said. "And one may be potentially in the second round. So we’re going to have to make some determinations, and usually those determinations aren’t made until we’re actually on the clock."
As for which two teams called, they might be the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns. The Browns fit that second round profile and both teams have already called the Packers about moving up.
