The Minnesota Vikings showed signs of improvement in 2014, posting a 7-9 record behind the play of rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Star running back Adrian Peterson missed essentially the entire season as he dealt with child abuse charges, and he should be back to help this team. Minnesota is eyeing a return to the playoffs next season, and here are the players they're targeting in free agency to help them get there:
S Louis Delmas
Minnesota needs to find an upgrade they can rely on next to Harrison Smith since Robert Blanton and Andrew Sendejo haven't proven they can consistently get the job done. Delmas racked up 61 tackles in 13 games for the Dolphins last season and would be a solid option in the back end of the defense.
WR Cecil Shorts
The Vikings would like to find a consistent target to put alongside Cordarrelle Patterson and help Bridgewater's development. Shorts has put up good numbers in his four years in the league despite being limited by injuries and poor quarterback play in Jacksonville, and is looking for a new start. Minnesota could provide him with that, and they won't have to break the bank to sign him.
DT Terrance Knighton
Minnesota needs someone who can stop the run, and Knighton has become one of the most dominant run-stoppers in the league. The Vikings haven't had a consistent presence in the middle of the defensive line since the Williams duo, and Knighton would be a star immediately.
