Vikings rumors have been inundated lately with inklings that former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will fall to the Minnesota Vikings at #8 in the 2014 NFL Draft in what could qualify as serendipity for both parties.
Earlier this week, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer expressed worry over the "sideshow" nature of Manziel's pro day workout, stating that "there are some flags that come up" surrounding the celebrity-focused Johnny Football.
Those flags may turn into full-blown alarms with the news that Johnny Manziel is now trying to slap a trademark on the term "The House That Johnny Built."
While there is nothing inherently wrong with any player attempting to maximize his revenue stream, many sources believe that this move could be indicative of where Johnny Manziel's mindset lies -- focused more on the money than the game itself.
Vikings HC Mike Zimmer expressed worries over this very possibility in the previously cited interview -- "All of the things that happened out in Los Angeles, the commercials and all that stuff; the position of quarterback in the NFL is such an important position and the reason these guys need to be a totally football-minded guy."
Whether Manziel turns out to be the "football-minded guy" the Minnesota Vikings are looking for is still up in the air -- but chances may have been partially diminished.
