The Minnesota Vikings still aren't sure whether or not star running back Adrian Peterson will be back with the team in 2015, but it sounds like the doubts are starting to creep in.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Peterson "might not be entirely comfortable returning to Minnesota" after the child abuse scandal that dominated NFL headlines in September and October. Schefter says "at least a half-dozen teams" have done background research on Peterson in the event that he becomes available, and there are no doubt more teams than that who would be interested in his services.
The 2012 NFL MVP was placed on the NFL’s Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list on September 17, and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly assaulting his four-year-old son on November 4. While he hoped to return by week 11 after accepting the plea deal, the league suspended him for the rest of the season without pay on November 18. While Peterson appealed the suspension, his first appeal was rejected and he now awaits a federal appeal hearing set for February 6.
Peterson ultimately played in just one game for the Vikings in 2014, rushing 21 times for 75 yards and no touchdowns. Schefter ended his section on Peterson by saying that he considers him 'questionable' for a return to the Vikings, but 'probable' to make a move somewhere else.
