The NFL schedule for next season has just been released, so here are the three biggest match-ups for the Minnesota Vikings heading into their 2014 schedule:
Sunday, September 14th vs. New England Patriots
This will be a high-visibility test for whoever is behind center for the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 -- be it a highly touted draftee, or someone already on the roster.
However, this game will come down to whether or not the Vikings can get Adrian Peterson loose on multiple occasions. If "All Day" can wreck the Patriots defense all day, then the Vikings can pull off the home upset.
Thursday Night Football, October 2nd at Green Bay Packers
The last contest between these two storied division rivals in Lambeau ended in a 26-all tie. Weird things happen when these two teams get together, and that makes for great television.
The Green Bay Packers continue to be the measuring stick in the NFC North. In order for the Vikings to reestablish their footing in the division, stepping up and knocking the Packers off in Lambeau is a good way to start.
Sunday, November 30th vs. Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton comes to Minnesota in an intriguing measuring stick game for the reshuffled Minnesota Vikings. A home win over the Carolina Panthers could go a long way in establishing the Vikings as a surprise NFC playoff contender.
This is a rematch from October 10th of last year, with Newton had one of his best games of the 2013 regular season in the Vikings' backyard -- going 20-for-26 for 242 yards and three passing touchdowns, while running for a touchdown as well. The Vikings fell 35-10, and may use that as fuel come rematch-time.
