In Vikings news tonight, the Minnesota Vikings' interim home at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium is getting an upgrade to get it ready for the start of the 2014 NFL season.
According to Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk, "renovations to the facility have begun as part of $6.6 million worth of improvements to the site" where the Minnesota Vikings will call home for the next two seasons.
Per Rochelle Olson of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, groundskeepers are beginning the process of removing the turf from the stadium, with that process expected to be completed by the end of this week.
This will not be the first time that the Vikings call TCF Bank Stadium home. After the Metrodome's roof imploded in December of 2010, the Vikings moved over to TCF Bank Stadium.
As Crabtree notes, TCF Bank Stadium was the site of legendary quarterback Brett Favre's final game of his storied NFL career.
The cost of the renovations to TCF Bank Stadium come from the fund reserved for the building of the Vikings' brand-new stadium, to open in the fall of 2016.
