In this Vikings news and rumors update, the Minnesota Vikings have filtered $49 million into their new stadium project since last fall, including $20 million in cash to cover a funding gap in construction for the $1 billion technological marvel.
According to Rochelle Olson of the Star Tribune, "the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) unanimously approved the budget changes Friday after lavishly praising the Vikings for upping their portion of the tab for the downtown Minneapolis stadium."
However, the budget changes were to be expected seeing that the initial estimate for the project was on the preliminary design for the stadium. The added funds will help bring air ducts to the upper levels of the stadium and beverage conduits to ensure that beer is free flowing at the Vikings' new field.
With the additional $49 million factored in, the Minnesota Vikings have contributed $526 million of the project's $1.023 million budget - covering over half of the expenses so far.
