In this Vikings news and rumors update, it is now Teddy Time for the Minnesota Vikings after starting quarterback Matt Cassel went down with a broken foot on Sunday.
Per Darin Gantt of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters after the game that starter Matt Cassel has several broken bones in his foot, which means the job is Bridgewater’s by default."
When asked point blank if Bridgewater was the quarterback going forward, Zimmer simply responded, "That is correct."
Bridgewater seemed comfortable in the pocket against the New Orleans Saints despite the loss. He was fluid in his reads and seemed naturally suited towards taking the big stage.
Add in the fact that the Vikings will likely be without star running back Adrian Peterson for at least awhile yet (if ever), and it's time for Bridgewater to take the reins and help mold the offense into his own image.
