Eight game into his NFL career, Minnesota Vikings outside linebacker Anthony Barr is living up to the hype that was attached to him during the process leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft.
Most rookies tend to taper off production-wise as the long NFL season wears on, but Mike Florio of NBC's Pro Football Talk says Barr isn't worried about the infamous "rookie wall":
He told PFT Live earlier this week that he feels great after eight starts. Of course, that may change after a few more. But the converted running back and defensive end said that the NFL hasn’t seemed much faster than the college level, so the transition has gone very smoothly. As the total games played match and exceed anything he experienced at the college level, maybe it will go just as smoothly for one of the top rookies on a team that has experienced plenty of bumps and bruises.
Another big factor for Barr is the stamina that he built up playing running back before moving over to the defensive side of the ball. The dynamic linebacker seems to be at his freshest as the game wears on, as evidenced by his heroics in last week's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If he can keep that trend up, the "rookie wall" won't be likely to touch him at all.
