The Minnesota Vikings are getting ready for a bye-week rest following an impressive 29-26 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but the workload is ramping up for injured tight end Kyle Rudolph.
Rudolph is targeting the Vikings' post-bye debut against the Chicago Bears on November 16th as the perfect date for a return from sports hernia surgery.
"That's my goal," Rudolph said following Sunday's win, via Brian Murphy of the Pioneer Press. "I've got to get myself in football shape. In my mind, I have two weeks to get ready so I'm going to do everything I can to get out there then."
After signing a five-year, $40 million contract extension this offseason, Rudolph was slowed by pain. The training staff tried to do everything in its power to work around surgery, yet the efforts were to no avail.
"I learned my lesson," Rudolph said. "I'm not going to go out there if I'm not 100 percent."
"It's not fair to the guys in this locker room and it's not fair to myself."
