Minnesota Vikings first-round pick Trae Waynes already has a key ally on the team in head coach Mike Zimmer.
"I told one of the coaches, for a young guy and trying to teach the technique that we're doing, he caught on probably faster than I've ever had a guy on the first day," Zimmer said of Waynes, via FOX Sports.
The former Michigan State cornerback flashed 4.31-second speed in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and his the length and ball instincts to be a shutdown corner in this league. However, he's humble about his gifts and was blown away by his new head coach's kind words.
"That's a huge compliment," Waynes said. "But I'm just trying to do my best to pick up what they're saying and learn as quickly as possible."
Waynes put together a great rookie minicamp altogether, already looking like the #1 corner the team drafted him to be.
