With free agency beginning to sort itself out, Minnesota Vikings rumors are beginning to turn toward May's 2014 NFL Draft in earnest.
With the Minnesota Vikings rebuilding their defense via free agency over the past few weeks, many pundits believe the Vikings will now turn their attention toward drafting a quarterback with their eighth-overall pick. The question now is who?
As of right now, several NFL sources believe that a slight drop in former Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel's stock, along with the Vikings' need at that position may cause a bit of serendipity between the two parties come draft day.
As SBNation.com Minnesota Vikings writer Ted Glover argues, Johnny Football might qualify as the perfect fit for the Vikings' future plans on offense -- The Vikings are desperate for a quarterback, and in the NFC North, they have been lapped in that position by Detroit, Chicago, and Green Bay. Manziel has the potential to [bringing] the Vikings up to 'even' in the quarterback sweepstakes."
From a marketability standpoint, Johnny Manziel could also play a factor in putting fans in seats as the Minnesota Vikings face displacement at the University of Minnesota's home stadium for the next couple seasons until their new stadium is ready for the 2016 NFL season.
However, this is all pure guessing at this point. With over a month until May's NFL Draft, a lot could change both via free agency and via trade. Chat Sports will keep you in the loop on all the latest in the Minnesota Vikings' search for their next franchise quarterback.
