Minnesota Vikings rumors have had a defensive line focus so far in the first 24 hours or so of the 2014 NFL free agency period, and by the looks of it the Vikings aren't quite done bolstering their defensive front four.
Ben Goessling of ESPN.com is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings with fly former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton into Minneapolis on Thursday for a formal visit. This is despite already signing free agent defensive tackle Linval Joseph, formerly of the New York Giants, to a 5-year, $31.5 million contract on Tuesday.
Henry Melton tore his ACL in the Chicago Bears' Week 3 game at Pittsburgh, ending his season before it truly had begun. The 27-year-old was coming off the first Pro Bowl season of his four-year career (all with Chicago) in 2012.
Many believe that Henry Melton may be one of the best and most cost-effective options left at defensive tackle on the open market. However, if the Minnesota Vikings feel confident that Melton is fully healed, his versatility at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds could make him an instant asset for the Vikings.
The Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys have also had their names associated with Henry Melton as possible suitors for the free agent pass rusher.
