The headlines of the Vikings news cycle this year have been dominated by running back Adrian Peterson, but not for his play on the field.
Peterson's case for reinstatement to the league following a plea deal of no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault on a child is expected to be heard this week, per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
The embattled halfback is looking to put the controversy and get back on the sidelines, but the Minnesota Vikings organization is divided on whether or not he should be allowed back right away, provided that he is reinstated.
"The big problem, one big problem, is that there is an internal battle with the Minnesota Vikings," Rapoport said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "Some of their executives are divided on whether they want Adrian Peterson back immediately."
Vikings players have been almost unanimous in their public desire for Peterson to return. However, it's unclear if the team's executives are willing to make that happen right away.
