The Minnesota Vikings are 1-1 this season, but they have the ability to surprise the NFL world and win their division. The Vikings missed the playoffs last season, but have Adrian Peterson back and will benefit from an improving Teddy Bridgewater. Here are four reasons why the Vikings will win the NFC North this season.
Health
The Vikings are dealing with injuries, but none are as severe as their NFC North brethren. The Packers are down Jordy Nelson for the season and could be without RB Eddie Lacy and WR Davante Adams for a few games. Plus, OT Bryan Bulaga is out for at least six weeks. Matt Stafford is battling numerous ailments and DeAndre Levy is still out. The Bears are without Jay Cutler and it's not like they were much of a threat to begin with. If the Vikings stay healthy, they can take the NFC North this season.
Strong Defense
The Vikings have allowed only four touchdowns this season. The Lions and 49ers might not have the greatest offenses in the world, but that is still pretty good. To make a postseason push, the Vikings need to have a good defense. With Mike Zimmer at the helm, they'll have just that.
Adrian Peterson
Peterson struggled in Week 1, but he bounced back in Week 2. Expect more of the same going forward. He's one of the best RBs in the NFL and can bust a big gain at any time. He can control the clock and make life easier on Bridgewater. Peterson can carry the Vikings' offense, but they won't need him to do all the work.
Teddy Bridgewater
This one is a bit of projection. Bridgewater is developing into a franchise QB. It'll take some more time, but Bridgewater has the ability to win the NFC North. Don't be surprised if by then end of the season Bridgewater is considered the second best QB in the division.
