Minnesota United managed to squeak out a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on the road in New Jersey.
Injuries to Miguel Ibarra and Darwin Quintero forced manager Adrian Heath into a lineup change for the match. Instead of his usual 4-2-3-1, Heath opted for a 3-4-3. Brent Kallman joined Michael Boxall and Ike Opara at centerback, and Francisco Calvo and Romain Métanire played outside at wingback. The normal duo of Ján Greguš and Ozzie Alonso occupied the midfield. The biggest changes came to United’s attack, as Abu Danladi and Ethan Finlay flanked Angelo Rodriguez.
