It was a snowy but ultimately disappointing home opener for Minnesota United as they faced fellow expansion side Atlanta United in front of a packed house at TCF Bank Stadium. The attendance of 35,403 was the largest at a soccer game in Minnesota since the Minnesota Strikers played the Tampa Bay Rowdies in front of a crowd of 52,621 on May 28, 1984. The Strikers left that game with a 1-0 win, a result Minnesota United would have been overjoyed with for this match.
“The crowd, the supporters were fantastic,” said defender Vadim Demidov. “They were with us all the time, the whole 90 minutes.
