Minnesota United has traded captain and defender Francisco Calvo to the Chicago Fire, the club announced Friday morning.
The Loons will immediately receive $150,000 in allocation money:
In 2020, United will receive $250,000 in allocation money:
Minnesota could receive an additional $125,000 TAM if Calvo meets future performance criteria or transfers outside of MLS.
Calvo, 26, joined Minnesota United in 2017 from Saprissa in his native Costa Rica. He played in the World Cup last summer and was selected to the league All-Star Game.
He has gained a reputation as a fiery leader, occasionally taking shots at the league and media outlets in postgame interviews.
