Minnesota United announced the departure of veteran fullback Tyrone Mears on Monday afternoon.
According to the club’s release, the Loons and Mears mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Mears was due to make $194,256 this year.
“We felt this was the right move for Tye at this time,” said manager Adrian Heath in a statement.
Heath mentioned that Mears will be playing in the Championship, England’s second division. No club has announced an acquisition of Mears yet.
Mears joined United in the offseason through the 2017 MLS. Re-Entry Draft from Atlanta United.
