Loon Nuggets: News and Notes from Minnesota’s win over Vancouver

Saturday was a day of firsts for Minnesota United’s Mason Toye. The rookie out of Indiana University received his first MLS start—which was cut short by his first ever red card. Toye was sent off in the 50th minute after he elbowed the Vancouver WhitecapsKendall Waston in the gut. “I was trying to send a message,” said Toye of his actions. “I was getting held and grabbed a little bit.”

His manager didn’t appreciate his lapse in maturity. “He could’ve cost his teammates and he’ll learn his lesson,” said Adrian Heath.
