Minnesota United traveled to Utah to face Real Salt Lake with something to prove. After two straight losses on the road to Sporting KC (one in the regular MLS season and one during the US Open Cup), they needed to notch a win and take three points.
Alas, after a strong showing early in the match, United’s offense was nearly non-existent as they struggled to connect their midfield to the attacking corps and put any consistent pressure on Salt Lake’s keeper Nick Rimando.
A late concession put RSL up 1-0, a deficit that the Loons never overcame.
