Minnesota United defender Francisco Calvo and forward Abu Danladi have received their U.S. green cards, the club announced today. The duo no longer occupy international spots on the Loons’ roster.
Calvo, 25, joined MNUFC in December 2016 and started 27 of 27 matches during the club’s first season in MLS, scoring twice. He has ambitions of representing his country and the Loons at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where Costa Rica will face Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia.
Danladi, 22, arrived as the Loons’ No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. In his first season, the Ghana native scored eight goals –– including four match-winners –– and finished second in MLS Rookie of the Year voting.
