Like all call-ups, infielder Jorge Polanco wants to remain with the big-league club. That seems unlikely, even though the Twins need help at shortstop.
Polanco, 22, joined the Twins' 25-man roster on Wednesday as a replacement for third baseman Trevor Plouffe, who is on paternity leave with his wife, Olivia, expecting their first child.
"I always think, 'This is my chance,' " said Polanco, making his fourth trip to the majors. "When they call me up, I hope to stay."
But his window is three days, and the Rochester shortstop wasn't in the lineup for Wednesday's matinee against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Target Field.
