ARLINGTON, Texas -- Twins right fielder Torii Hunter was notified Friday that he has received a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from Major League Baseball in the wake of his ejection in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals.
Hunter, who said he has never appealed a prior suspension in his 19 big-league seasons, will appeal this one after plate umpire Mark Ripperger ejected him in the bottom of the eighth inning at Target Field.
Hunter removed his shin guards and batting gloves and flung them onto the field before removing his jersey as well and doing the same.
