Twins sit Oswaldo Arcia against Royals lefty

Twins manager Paul Molitor wants Oswaldo Arcia to prove himself against left-handed pitching. But first he has to earn the privilege.

Switch-hitter Eduardo Escobar was tapped to play left field and face Kansas City lefty Jason Vargas in Thursday's series finale at Target Field.

Arcia's two-run homer Wednesday night was the difference in Minnesota's 3-1 victory. His only hit in four career at bats against Vargas is a solo home run.

But Molitor wanted Escobar's right-handed bat in the lineup over Arcia, who is hitting .200 with that one extra-base hit in 22 plate appearances.

"I'd like to see his at-bats pick up in terms of consistency, and I think the best chance to do that right now is against right-handers in the short term," said Molitor.
