Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe isn't expected to return until Saturday after his wife Olivia gave birth to the couple's first child late Wednesday night in the Twin Cities.
Theodore Winston James Plouffe was born at 11:32 pm. Olivia Plouffe was induced at 7 a.m., so it was a long day for the whole Plouffe family.
Twins manager Paul Molitor said there "might be an outside chance" Plouffe would return to the lineup by Friday night but he was mindful of not putting any pressure on the valuable slugger.
Rookie Miguel Sano replaced Plouffe at third base Thursday, making just his second career start in the field since joining the Twins on July 2.
