CHICAGO -- In the wake of Wednesday's 13-inning game in Pittsburgh, which forced the Twins to use all seven members of their bullpen, veteran reliever Tim Stauffer has been reinstated from his rehab assignment.
Veteran infielder Doug Bernier was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.
In moving to a 13-man pitching staff for the first time this season, the Twins are choosing to ignore a dip in Stauffer's fastball, which topped out at 87 mph in his fourth rehab outing on Wednesday night against Durham.
Stauffer threw 20 pitches and retired two batters, allowing two doubles and a run.
