Twins' postseason bid takes hit in pivotal 8th

MINNEAPOLIS -- The loud music that normally envelops the Twins' clubhouse after each victory was nowhere to be seen -- or heard -- on Friday night. Just a few players milled around their lockers shortly after a crushing 3-1 loss to the Royals. The clubhouse otherwise was dead silent.

In a matter of a few hours, the Twins' postseason hopes took a huge hit. Minnesota dropped two games back of the Astros -- and one behind the Angels -- with just two regular-season games remaining in the chase for the American League's second Wild Card spot.
