MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe on Tuesday was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right intercostal muscle, retroactive to Monday.
Plouffe said he had been dealing with the injury for a few days, but it worsened while he was running the bases in the 10th inning of Sunday's 3-2 win over the Angels. Plouffe is hitting .302/.333/.535 with two homers and six RBIs in 12 games.
