Twins starter Phil Hughes left Wednesday's game after five innings with what the team described as a mild left hip flexor strain.
It was not immediately known how that might affect Hughes' availability for his next start, currently scheduled for Monday at home against the Oakland Athletics.
Hughes was sharp his first time through the Detroit Tigers' lineup but gave up five doubles in a span of seven batters in the fourth and fifth innings. All five were opposite-field shots sent to right and right center.
Right fielder Oswaldo Arcia misplayed the carom off the limestone on Miguel Cabrera's double in the fourth, breaking up a scoreless tie.
