Mike Pelfrey won the conversation Tuesday night but lost the game.

The Twins starter had thrown 109 pitches and his outing appeared finished after issuing ball four to White Sox cleanup hitter Adam LaRoche.

Jose Abreu, who singled with two outs and represented the go-ahead run, was pushed into scoring position during the seventh inning of a tie game at Target Field.

Manager Paul Molitor popped out of the dugout and strolled to the mound, determined to have a conversation with his veteran right-hander.

Melky Cabrera was due up having doubled in his previous at bat against Pelfrey after striking out twice.
