ST. LOUIS --Twins right-hander Ricky Nolasco will see a specialist to determine how to treat his ailing right ankle.
Nolasco had to cut short a scheduled bullpen session on Sunday at Target Field when the impingement in his ankle continued to give him trouble.
"We don't think surgery is an option on the table right now," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "But we've got to figure out a course of action to try to get him back."
Nine days have passed since Nolasco received a cortisone injection in his ankle. A prior MRI and CT scan revealed no structural damage, but there is a small bone fragment left over from a high school injury.
