ARLINGTON, Texas -- Double-A Chattanooga right-hander Jose Berrios, the Twins' top pitching prospect, was removed from Sunday's start after three shutout innings for precautionary reasons.
Berrios, 21, took a comebacker off his lower right leg from Birmingham shortstop Tim Anderson, the 17th overall pick in 2013. Berrios was able to throw out Anderson to end the inning, but D.J. Baxendale replaced Berrios to start the fourth.
Named last week to the June 23 Southern League All-Star Game, Berrios told the Pioneer Press on Sunday night that he felt fortunate.
"I feel great," said Berrios, who needed just 41 pitches to secure the first nine outs.
