CHICAGO -- The indestructible Kurt Suzuki was back in the Twins' lineup Friday night, less than 48 hours after hobbling off the field in Kansas City with an apparent left knee injury.
Known for his ridiculously high pain threshold, the veteran catcher didn't even undergo an MRI exam on Thursday's off day. He was diagnosed with bruising and would only admit to soreness in the affected joint.
"I'm OK," he said. "Everything's so far, so good. We'll see when I get out there, but right now I feel fine."
Suzuki said he received text messages immediately after Wednesday's game from Royals outfielder Jonny Gomes and bench coach Don Wakamatsu, both of whom he worked with during his Oakland A's days.
