Over the weekend, Twins general manager Terry Ryan was asked if it concerned him that shortstop Danny Santana was still looking for his first walk of the year.
"He's never been a big walk guy," Ryan said, leaving it at that.
As it turns out, Santana isn't just eschewing the free pass -- a big part of the reason he's been dropped from the leadoff spot to ninth in the batting order -- he leads the majors in most plate appearances (94) without a single walk.
By a wide margin. Backup shortstop and superutility man Eduardo Escobar is second, 62 trips without a walk.
