CHICAGO -- After skipping the Dominican Winter League last offseason in order to work on his conditioning, Twins shortstop Danny Santana has changed course.
Santana said Sunday he will return to Aguilas this winter, where he figures to split time at shortstop with Jonathan Villar (Houston Astros) and Joaquin Arias (San Francisco Giants). Two offseasons ago, Santana shifted to second base to make room for Villar.
"I hope to play shortstop," said Santana, who turns 25 in November.
The Twins' Opening Day shortstop in 2015, Santana was sent to Triple-A Rochester in early June and again Aug.
