Twins: Byron Buxton back in No. 9 spot to face Samardzija

Byron Buxton's 3-for-5 breakout performance debuting at the top of the Twins' lineup did not earn him an encore in the lead-off position Tuesday night against the White Sox.

The rookie center fielder returned to the No. 9 spot to face Chicago right-handed starter Jeff Samardzija after recording his first multi-hit game Monday in Minnesota's 13-2 blowout victory.

Manager Paul Molitor acknowledged being tempted to keep the speedster put after promoting him against White Sox lefty John Danks.

"The fan in me was," he said.

After sleeping on it, however, Molitor decided to move Brian Dozier back to lead-off and see how Buxton performs against Samardzija at Target Field.
