Tigers 10, Twins 7: Pain all around for Minnesota

This one smarts.

Blowing a four-run lead and losing 10-7 on Wednesday afternoon to the Detroit Tigers was bad enough.

Losing three players to injury, including Opening Day starter Phil Hughes, only added to the pain at Target Field.

Hughes was diagnosed with a mild strain of his left hip flexor after pitching five innings. Also leaving the game with injuries were center fielder Jordan Schafer (mild sprain of medial collateral ligament in his right knee) and reliever Casey Fien.

Schafer slipped after beating out a bunt single in the sixth; Fien was removed in the ninth after giving up five hits on 35 pitches.
