Twins right-hander Ervin Santana threw under game conditions Saturday for the first time since incurring an 80-game steroids suspension on April 3.
He tossed two scoreless innings in an extended spring training game in Fort Myers, Fla., then completed a 70-pitch day in the bullpen. Santana is due to throw a bullpen session Tuesday as he works toward a 16-day rehab assignment due to start around June 18.
The Twins are still determining whether he should pitch at Class A Fort Myers before moving up to Triple-A Rochester.
Twins general manager Terry Ryan said the main variable with Santana's second spring training is the length of time he has spent away from his teammates and regular preparations.
