MINNEAPOLIS -- Shortstop Royce Lewis, ranked as the Twins' top prospect and the No. 11 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline was promoted from Class A Cedar Rapids to Class A Advanced Fort Myers.
Lewis, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, was told of the promotion by manager Toby Gardenhire late Friday night and the move became official on Saturday. Lewis, a Midwest League All-Star, had an impressive showing with Cedar Rapids, hitting .315/.368/.485 with nine homers, 23 doubles and 53 RBIs in 75 games.
The 19-year-old has shown improved power at the plate and better defense at short this season.
