Minnesota Twins top pitching prospect, Alex Meyer is moving to the bullpen. Meyer has been struggling with his command through the first two months of the season. Meyer has started eight games for the Twins Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. He is 2-3 with a 7.09 earned run average. He has issued 24 walks in 39.1 innings pitched.
Meyer was in a battle for the final spot in the Twins rotation during spring training. Since the regular season as started he’s been unable to find his footing.
Twins assistant general manager, Rob Anthony had this to say about the move:
“The plan is to get him squared away and get back as a starter”
This may be a move that’s temporary, but it could be a move that is better in the longterm for both parties.
