KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the second time this season, Twins outfielder Shane Robinson has been placed on the family emergency list.
Harper Robinson, the player's 8-month-old daughter, was born with esophageal atresia, a condition in which the esophagus isn't properly connected to the stomach. Jessica Robinson, Shane's wife, and their 3-year-old daughter, Tinley, have spent the season in Boston, where Harper is in a medically induced coma after undergoing surgeries.
An emergency situation arose Thursday, Twins manager Paul Molitor said, and there was no hesitation in allowing Robinson to leave the team. Fellow outfielder Aaron Hicks was recalled Friday from a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester to take his place on the 25-man roster.
