The Minnesota Twins designated Kennys Vargas for assignment on Friday bringing his time with the team to a close. Fans who remember what happened with David Ortiz wanted to see the organization give Vargas more opportunities with the team. However, Vargas is not the next Ortiz, and it is time for Minnesota to move on.
Why this move makes sense
Vargas has a career .252 batting average across 859 plate appearances during his four-year MLB career. However, he has yet to tap into his considerable amount of power while with the Twins.
