After a positive series against the Cleveland Indians, the Twins hoped to keep moving forward against another AL Central opponent.
Unfortunately, the Tigers pounded out 9 runs and the Twins were only able to respond with 2. The loss dropped the Minnesota Twins to 7-16 on the season.
Phil Hughes was on the mound for the Twins but lasted 5 innings and allowed 4 earned runs.
The biggest problem for Hughes was the first inning when he gave up 3 runs. The rest of the evening went fairly well aside from a home run given up to his nemesis Miguel Cabrera.
