Minnesota Twins: Kennys Vargas left out of lineup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Twins switch-hitter Kennys Vargas, hitting .077 against right-handers, was left out of Monday's lineup with the Kansas City Royals starting righty Edinson Volquez.

Vargas was 2 for 26 against right-handers. Hitting .429 (6 for 14) from the right side, however, he will see lefty Jason Vargas on Tuesday. Replacing Vargas at DH for the Twins on Monday was switch-hitter Eduardo Escobar, who was just 2 for 11 (.182) from the left side.

"A lot of young players, kind of what Kennys is doing too right now, when they're not producing, they feel like they're hurting the team and they try that much harder," manager Paul Molitor said.
