With inconsistent production from the Minnesota Twins offense they will look to shake things up. Kennys Vargas is a switch-hitting first basemen/designated hitter, but his fielding is sub par so he was brought up mainly to bolster run scoring. Throughout his major league career he has appeared in 82 games as a designated hitter and 64 as a first baseman.
Vargas had a slow spring training causing him to not make the 25-man roster. Byung Ho Park had a stellar spring training but the Twins decided he needed more time in Triple A. With Park not being on the 40-man roster (along with the disabled list) the Twins brought up Vargas.
