Surging right-hander Jose Berrios did all he could Monday night to impress Twins general manager Terry Ryan on the sixth and final day of the executive's scouting trip to watch Triple-A Rochester.
For now, at least, Berrios will have to wait for his first crack at the big leagues, according to a person with direct knowledge. Berrios will remain with the Red Wings for one final 2015 start despite lowering his earned-run average on Monday to 1.80 over his past nine starts (60 innings).
In that span, the 21-year-old Berrios has struck out 66 and walked just nine while allowing 42 hits and reinforcing his status as the organization's top pitching prospect.
