Got confirmation: Michael Cuddyer retiring

— Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinESPN) December 12, 2015

Cuddyer began his career in Minnesota and spent 11 seasons here. He had a .794 OPS over that span. His offensive numbers spiked when he left for the Rockies (as happens to many Rockies’ players) but in 2015 with the Mets, they dipped to a career low. In contrast to his bat, his defence has always been quite poor. Cuddyer may be leaving 12.5 million on the table by retiring. He is under contract with the Mets for 2016. It is very uncommon to retire with guaranteed money still on the table.
