ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Twins closer Glen Perkins revealed after Wednesday's game he has been unavailable the past two nights, but this time the problem is not the bulging disc in his neck.
Instead, it's a recurrence of the lower back spasms that caused him to miss the entire series at Fenway Park in June 2014.
"It's frustrating getting a cortisone shot, coming back and having my back lock up," Perkins said. "It isn't how I planned things. It's been a crappy week."
Perkins said his back has been fine this year but started to bother him while he was warming up to work the 11th inning Sunday in Baltimore.
